Action researcher, visual storyteller, anthropologist and founder of media platform ‘Impact Journey’ works at the intersection of environmental (climate) change and social inequality. His impact journeys are focused around climate justice, revealing the inseparable connection between age-old prevalent stereotypes about the Global South and the depletion of natural resources in so called developing countries, which maintain a relationship of dependency and unequal power structures between the Global North and Global South. To create meaningful impact, Steyn re-creates these stigmatized cultural believes, by documenting minorities and communities through the lens of ‘the other’ and changing the dominant narrative.
